With the inauguration around the corner, something of great concern to many is protecting vulnerable community members from Trump’s deportation plans. The Thursday Action Group is holding a special meeting Thursday, Jan. 16 at 1pm to talk about this topic, specifically about reaching out to local school boards and city councils to encourage them to be ready to take action. Their guest will be Joseph Mas, who testified before Columbus City Council in 2017 when the council was trying to figure out how to best protect community members from Trump’s deportation plans during his first term. For reference, see this video. Mr. Mas recently wrote this column, published in the Dispatch on 1/10/25.
