Love Without Lines, cosponsored by Indivisible Ohio District 15, is hosting a card making party and item drive for the migrants we are traveling to the border to help.
When children turn 18, they age out of detention and are either sent back across the border or sent to another center. These kids have no family and are all alone on their birthday. We will be making birthday cards for migrants and welcome cards for those leaving detention. This is such a simple gesture, yet means so much to those that receive them.
We have translators available to help with cards and spelling in Spanish. We will have some art supplies but please bring yours as well.
It’s your time to get creative, spread some love, and send some encouragement to people that haven’t seen much of it. We will have a great time!
Sunday, July 21
1–3 p.m.
Columbus Metropolitan Library – Northside Branch,
1423 N High St, Columbus, Ohio 43201
We will also be collecting gift cards and other donations at this event. Needed items include clothing for hot weather in children’s sizes as well as adult small and medium. Toiletries, socks and shoes are also welcome. Slide shoes or those without laces are best as all laces are taken when migrants are placed in detention.
Can’t wait to see you all there!
