Last week, we won a major victory in the fight against the American Health Care Act! Congratulations to each of you who made a phone call or a visit to a member of Congress in opposition to that bill!

But our focus on healthcare last week meant that our state representatives escaped our attention. Let’s focus on the Ohio House of Representatives today!

In 2016, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed a bill prohibiting cities in Ohio from increasing the minimum wage above the state’s minimum wage of $8.15 per hour. A new bill in the Ohio House of Representatives seeks to raise the Ohio minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.

Here is today’s call to action

For today’s call to action, call your Ohio Rep. (Tim Schaffer at (614) 466-8100 or Ron Hood at (614) 466-1464) and ask him to sign on as a co-sponsor to HB86. If you’d like, you can use the following script:

I am calling to ask my Ohio Rep. to sign on as a co-sponsor to HB86. It is essential for Ohio workers to make a living wage. Ohio lawmakers have a responsibility to protect Ohio workers. I want my Ohio Rep. to sign on as a co-sponsor for HB86.

Be sure to give the staff member who answers your call your name and your full address, including your zip code, to ensure that you are counted as a constituent.

Note: If you want to stay in touch with the group but would like to opt out of receiving the daily calls to action, please email me so that I can keep your information on the appropriate list.
