Another big week for Indivisible OH12! 1,000+ showed up for our ACA Town Hall last Wednesday, and it was a rip-roaring success. #FlatPat stood in for Tiberi as our actual congressman chose to spend the evening at a fundraiser out of district instead of meeting with his constituents. Too bad our Representative thinks town halls can’t be constructive. Too bad he dismisses us as “protestors” instead of concerned citizens. Too bad he still isn’t listening. I guess we have to turn up the volume!
To get a flavor of the event watch this short video by Christina Paulucci; to hear from all the speakers, watch this one by Brant Jones. Thank you both! We also had some news coverage, including a report on Channel 10.
You can catch these videos and quite a few others on our new YouTube channel. Please subscribe! You can also check our the video from the day after the town hall when we delivered almost 1,000 postcards to Tiberi’s office with questions and comments about the ACA.
Thank you to each and every one of the MANY people involved in pulling together and pulling off the town hall event! Working together we can accomplish so much.
The work continues: We need to continue to contact Tiberi and Portman every day. We can’t let up the pressure! We post a daily Call to Action on our Facebook page. You can also use apps such as Daily Action and 5 Calls to make sure you are contacting your MoCs daily. And, to make it even easier, we’ve also listed a week’s worth of actions at the end of this email.
Here are some important ways to get involved and get active:

– Check out our Resources folder to see if there are documents that might be helpful to you. You can also find these and additional resources at our “Files” tab on the Facebook page.

Tip of the week: If you have a postcard writing party, don’t put the postcards in the mail. Deliver them by hand. Take, share, and tweet photos and videos of the delivery! That will double your impact. Donate the money you save to Planned Parenthood, CRIS, or another worthy organization.

Daily Calls to Action

Tiberi’s Phone Numbers: DC 202-225-5355; Worthington 614-523-2555 or 855-728-6412.

Portman’s Phone Numbers: Columbus : 614-469-6774; Main Switchboard 202-224-3121; Cincinnati 513-684-3265; DC 202-224-3353; Cleveland 216-522-7095; Toledo 419-259-3895

Tuesday morning call to Tiberi: A vote on Trump’s corruption. On Tuesday morning, the House Judiciary Committee will vote on a resolution requiring Attorney General Jeff Sessions to release documents related to corruption by Trump or his cronies, including ties to foreign governments. This is not a partisan issue; it’s about the integrity of the Oval Office and of our democracy. Yet, only 67 MoCs have co-sponsoredCall your MoC and ask them to co-sponsor H.Res. 111—see this script.

Wednesday call to Portman:  Opposing Trump’s cabinet nominations. Trump’s still is trying to nominate members of his Cabinet (and you helped slow down that process!). This week, check out our scripts for these two nominees—they’re as disastrous as ever:
 (1) Oppose Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy. Former Texas Governor Rick Perry is unfit to head the Department of Energy—not only due to his opposition to the Department’s very existence, but also because of his lack of knowledge of its work and responsibilities.
(2) Oppose Seema Verma for Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) Administrator. This is the kind of appointment that doesn’t make news, but has a huge potential impact on Americans’ lives. Verma is not only unfit for the job, but her extreme positions would result in higher insurance costs for women and an erosion of Medicaid benefits.
Thursday call to TiberiKeep up the pressure on the ACA, mention Kasich’s views, tell a personal story.
Friday call to Portman:  Investigate Michael Flynn’s communications with Russia. Michael Flynn’s resignation as National Security Advisor doesn’t make this any less essential. Ask your MoCs to fully investigate how deep the Russian influence on Trump administration officials goes.

Thank you!
