Greetings!

It seems fitting to reach out to our members who are busy resisting Trump on this first Presidents’ Day with him in office. May he not remain in office to see another!

Thanks to all of you who attended our kick-off meeting and a special thanks to those of you who have signed up to join one or more committees. We now number over 600 members! If you missed the meeting or if you would like the opportunity to join a committee or sign up for a neighborhood group, click here to access our handy guide to all things District 3. Committees are starting up this week and next, and we will be teeing up each neighborhood groups as soon as sufficient interest in that particular neighborhood develops.

There is a lot of resistance going on this week! Tomorrow, Tuesday 02/21 at noon, District 3 hosts its  Resist Trump Tuesday rally outside Senator Portman’s downtown office at 37 West Broad Street. This week we are partnering with Planned Parenthood to resist any initiatives that would reduce women’s access to affordable health care or reproductive choice. Please wear pink and join us!

Also tomorrow, 02/21, at 6:30 PM, our representative, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, will be participating in a town hall event focusing on the ACA and hosted by UHCAN Ohio at First Congregational Church, 444 E Broad St., Columbus. Hope to see you all there!

Because Senator Portman is on recess this week and should be in Ohio districts meeting with constituents (but doesn’t seem to be scheduling any appointments or town halls!), it’s a great time to make an in person visit to his office and ask where he is! Use our signup genius to make a plan to go. You can also participate in our FB group’s phone tree or follow the suggested script on your own to make your voice heard.

Finally, make sure to SAVE THE DATE of March 6. That evening, District 3 will be hosting a Memorial Service in honor of the Senator Portman Town Hall That Never Was. Look for details in next week’s email and in our Facebook group. This will be a hugely important event and we are counting on everyone’s participation. If you want to help with this event, please PM Meryl via Facebook or email her at merylneiman@mac.com.

Best,

Meryl Neiman and the Indivisible District 3 Team
